About Us
Cleveland Beacon Education CIC provides education for learners with autism and other co-occurring conditions aged 5–16.
We believe that every learner and young person deserves access to an outstanding education that recognises their individual strengths, celebrates their uniqueness and enables them to achieve their full potential.
Our approach is built around the belief that there is no “one size fits all” model of education. Every learner has their own aspirations, interests, communication style and learning profile. We prioritise personalised learning, ensuring that each child receives the right support, challenge and opportunities to develop academically, socially, emotionally and personally.
Through our four specialist learning pathways, we provide a flexible approach that responds to the diverse needs of our learners. These pathways allow us to create meaningful, ambitious and appropriate learning experiences while ensuring every learner is supported to progress at their own pace.
At Cleveland Beacon Education CIC, we place relationships at the heart of everything we do. We create a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment where learners feel understood, valued and confident to explore, learn and grow.
Our dedicated team works closely with families, professionals and wider support networks to develop a complete understanding of each learner. By working together, we aim to remove barriers to learning, build confidence and help every young person develop the skills, independence and resilience they need for their future.

Our Four Learning Pathways
At Cleveland Beacon Education, we recognise that every learner with autism is unique. Our four specialist learning pathways provide a personalised approach, ensuring that each child receives the right balance of support, challenge and opportunity to achieve their individual goals.
Our pathways are flexible and responsive, allowing learners to progress through their education in a way that reflects their strengths, needs and aspirations.
Beacon Communication, Sensory and Engagement
Our Sensory, Communication and Engagement pathway is designed for learners who require a highly personalised approach focused on communication, emotional regulation, engagement and developing trusting relationships.
We recognise that meaningful learning begins with understanding each learner’s individual communication style, sensory profile and emotional needs. Our approach prioritises creating the right environment, building confidence and supporting learners to feel safe, valued and ready to learn.
Learning is guided by EHCP outcomes alongside specialist objectives that develop communication, resilience, emotional regulation, interaction and engagement.
Through consistent support, carefully planned environments and strong relationships, learners are supported to develop their confidence, independence and ability to access new experiences.
Beacon Independence
Our Independence and Life Skills pathway supports learners whose priorities include developing greater independence, confidence and participation in everyday life.
Learning is centred around EHCP outcomes and personalised goals, with a strong focus on communication, self-care, independence, wellbeing and practical life skills.
Learners develop skills through meaningful real-life experiences, including community access, travel training, managing personal needs, making choices and developing greater autonomy.
This pathway recognises that independence looks different for every learner. Our aim is to maximise each young person’s ability to participate in their community, build confidence and achieve the greatest possible level of independence.
Beacon Foundations (pre-14)
Our Pre-14 pathway provides a broad and balanced education for younger learners aged 5–14, built around their individual strengths, needs and aspirations.
Learning is carefully personalised through a combination of National Curriculum objectives, EHCP outcomes and specialist objectives designed to support learners who require a different approach to accessing education.
The curriculum focuses on developing academic knowledge alongside communication, social understanding, emotional regulation, independence and confidence. Learners are supported to build essential skills through meaningful, engaging and relevant learning experiences.
Community inclusion, independent living skills and real-life learning opportunities are embedded throughout the curriculum, helping learners develop the skills they need to participate, communicate and thrive within their communities.
Beacon Futures (post-14)
Our Post-14 pathway builds upon the foundations developed during earlier education while supporting learners to take greater ownership of their learning journey.
Learners are encouraged to develop independence, make choices and explore their own interests, strengths and aspirations. Through a personalised curriculum, learners may access qualifications, accreditation and recognised outcomes where appropriate, alongside specialist learning opportunities.
A key focus of this pathway is preparing learners for their next steps beyond school, whether this involves further education, employment, training, volunteering or increased independence.
Learners are supported to develop decision-making skills, confidence, self-advocacy and the practical skills needed to move successfully towards adulthood.
